I believe so, I seem to remember that a former employer used to do it for some of their trucks some years.

(Is it recognized up here? I’m not sure)

Call your provincial DOT office and ask them. They will know if it will be accepted or not.

I would think so. I used to pull cryogenic trailers that were rented from a company in Texas (plated and registered there). For the last five years we have been getting CVIP’s done in Alberta whenever they’re due.

Successfully made it through multiple inspections (1’s, 2’s, 3’s) in Canada and the US, it’s seems to be acceptable.

It should but it may be a temp inspection; you may have to get one in Canada once you get over the border. Canada participates in Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) roadside inspections and its inspection rules from the CVSA meet the requirements of Ontario and other provinces.

IDK the real answer but a trailer is not considered a ''motor'' vehicle and in ON and QC isn't the speed limiter part of the safety on the tractor and for ON PLATED trucks at least, isn't an emission check done for safety?

It would meet US requirements. Only US exception is for states that perform their own inspections but I don't know how it relates to the CVOR.

Speed limiter is not part of the safety and the emissions test if needed depending on the age of the vehicle is for when you renew the plates.

To my understanding the US inspection standards seem pretty lax compared to what's required up here. Curious too if its possible.

With a few exceptions, if you run Minnesota plates, you are required to have a Minnesota Inspection.
