Keep in mind most trucking companies save the larger style cabs for trainers. This way they have more room for trainees. Expect smaller pray for larger.
Can a newbie get some swift interior pics?!

I guess i should really take that student thing down.. its messing up the new guys thinking I'm really a newbie.
Anyway what I'm getting at bub is i know a couple swift hands. One just started his career and the other is a old hand, 62 years young... been trucking since he was 22. He needed the insurance quick for his wife and there wasn't alot of choices... I haven't heard alot of good out of either of them. matter of fact the old hand parked his truck friday at the Memphis terminal and caught a bus home. But I like to learn the hard way too... and it may be a great turn out for ya.. so I'm not going to bust your nuts right now. Just be sure to let it be known how it turns out for ya. -
I have one of the smaller volvo's but I'm kinda uncomfortable posting pictures, mostly because its my home (so to speak). Its an '06 and when I got it there was 175k miles on it (which is fairly low, almost new really). The previous driver had an unauthorized dog so its a bit torn up inside but I got a new mattress, new curtains (damaged and missing?! what did he do to the curtains?) , new interior air filters (to help get the rest of the dog hair out), and then I had it cleaned (previous driver never had it washed?! Swift will pay for it once a month up to $35.00 so why not?!).
I will say that the job was harder than I expected because at first I was the cheapest in the fleet to run, so they ran me a lot. I don't mind since that's what I wanted and because I have no wife/kids so home time means little to me. I ran for 6 weeks straight once I got my truck and made my August bonus for miles. So far Swift has held up their end of the bargain and I'm fairly happy most of the time, mind you that you will have good days and bad but it averages out in the end. I did take 5 days off in September to go camping with my brother and I did not have to clean out my truck, which is very cool. I run on average 2500-3000 miles a week and run the 48 states OTR. When you start you can decide for yourself what areas you want to run but I suggest you do the entire 48 so you have more runs open to you.
The truck has a TAS and wabasto heater and in August I idled almost every night and I've never heard a word from Swift about it. If its over 75 degrees i just cant sleep well so I idle when I have to. I keep my mpg up in the 7.5-7.8 range most weeks and I stay on their fuel routes as much as possible. I've heard that the only time they will complain about idle times is when you are not putting on miles and getting low mpg. The truck is set to 62mph but you can get around it a bit by not using the jake on the smaller hills (depending on your weight, don't try it if you are fully loaded down a long steep grade ...lol, bad idea).
If you have questions feel free to drop me a line.
Cheers,
