You make his correct statement a lot in support of your carrier. But you are missing one piece of information to make your point have any validity.

What is LS average rate? Say for dry van.

Been there once. I don't remember shipper as being rude, but they did have whole bunch of rules. One thing: I never went back up there again...:biggrin_25513:

Yeah not to mention it was those huge rolls of paper, you know, the ones where one roll could shift over and you can see it bulging out of your trailer, and 44,000lbs to boot. It went to Valparaiso, IN. Boss let me go OOR to go home for Saturday-Sunday.

Rates vary by area so much, it would be difficult to compare, unless you narrow it down to specific lanes. I have compared on loads that I have hauled to independent Motor Carriers (yea, we like to talk and compare rates), hauling the same load, from the same shipper, to the same destination. With few exceptions, they hauled for less than my carrier got, usually not much more than what my percentage was.
This is why I say a Motor Carrier needs to compare their operation with other Motor Carriers, not my operation which is a very different business model.

Now if you are comparing the rates that I get with 60+ units to your rate that is very true. But in much of the discussion on the forum it is about someone looking at if they can make more, or is the extra they make worth the headache, compared to leasing to someone. So an independent comparing themselves to a LS BCO really is the correct comparison You get you loads from a broker and contract all the other stuff to LS. They likely get loads from a broker and do the stuff themselves.

Now your point about "X% of what" really is more about comparing if someone leases to F2F or LS. But sense we only have the percentage and not the gross it really is a religious discussion. It is about having faith.

BTW, I know you know this but any independent that would haul a load for less than what you get TTT needs to be leased to someone finding loads for them. That agent saw them coming a mile away.

A simple reply in this "Ask the trucker" section would have been nice rather than the sarcasm Oscar the KW.

So, crazD where is this "company section" you are talking about?

The only link I found for trucking terms had none of the newer ones in it.

Great for a 1970's film though.
