Can a shipper/receiver force you to wear ppe?

I think i went to that same plant one time and they told me to put a chin strap on ... I said i dont have one... Well u need one kn if were gonna load you.. Ok... Went back to my truck and took a shoelace out of a spare shoe and tied that frickin hat to my head .. Came back in laughing my ### off and said hey im ready to load lets get going ! Looked foolish as all hell but it got me loaded

 

You cant even breathe without getting written up at some of them!

 

Msha would have your ### if u ever showed up to a mine with flip flops on.. Lmao actually i would love to be there to witness the msha guy have a full bore stroke after he sees that

 

Ya all Geradu steel have the chin strap policy. This was in Michigan.

 

Thats the only place ive ever heard of that.. I think it was geradu steel , over in iowa . i forget the name of the town it was in. Loaded some flat steel

 

Ya that one is just west of Iowa 80... they ain't that bad there though. Jackson, TN. Richmond, VA and Jackson, MI ( where I had them unload me ) all 3 need attitude adjustments

 

Its rediculous. I was at a new mine under construction on and off for 2 years. So much red and yellow flagging, barricades, cones and flashing lights around that you eventually just get numb to it. It was a joke, somebody leaves a pallet on the ground and its got 4 cones and caution tape around it. How about just put the #### pallet away and not worry about someone tripping over it.

 

I was always fascinated by machinery , and when I was picking up or delivering I’d wander around and watch the machinery in the factories

i got kicked back to the loading dock a time or two so I started to wear khaki pants and a shirt with a collar , glasses and earplugs and carry a clipboard.
Then you could walk wherever you wanted .

i always carried a vest and hard hat and earplugs and glasses

we used to go to foundry’s and you had to wear all that and if you didn’t have your own they hand you some nasty hard hat , with grease and who knows what all kind of goop inside it , worn by dozens of drivers with questionable hygiene

 

Or a Nuclear Power Plant. FML.

 

well, if they know they have stinky feet, and you know that too, from a past experience, would you still WANT them to remove their shoes..??
