Can an O/O with their own authority purchase insurance through another carrier?

The OOIDA said I need primary liability insurance to activate my authority, $750k worth. I pay a weekly fee for that now for my leased truck, but it's in the carriers name. I was just wondering if there was anyway I could use that to activate my authority.

Th he way I read t things by the time i got to his post you see my response he quoted. I was reading t hat he already was running und er his own authority. Should have kept reading.
