@chacha - do you still have your cdl? How long have you been off the road?

I trained my wife, start to finish. Not even an O/O, just a guy with an opportunity to take a truck home..... worked really well. We don't team, because of the kids, but occasionally tag off; or she'll do the run when I'm illing.

Yes I do have my A and have had that pretty thing since Oct 93.

I've been off the road for nearly a decade and have worked at a truck driving school since. I've seen every possible scenario regarding people - and especially husbands training wives. It usually isn't good. Some work out, most do not. Just my .02. For the guys that are patient training their wives -- GOOD on you. Major kudos. That just isn't what is normal in my little part of the world.

Give yourself a "refresher course" certificate, then many companies will hire you. Since you work at a cdl school, that should count as local driving.

As it turned out, the first place I tried hired me pending drug test outcome. That was a lot easier than expected.

It definitely surprised me. I assume they pulled my dac. I haven't seen my own dac in forever. Maybe I should pull it. I know my CSA is a big fat desirable zero lol.

I'm sorry, OP, to hijack your thread. I'm done. I wish you the best!!!

This was the answer I was looking for. I have my class A permit and have had it for 2yrs now. School is expensive and I just need the behind the wheel training. But I don’t know anyone personally that is an O/O that I can get can train me. ‍♀️

No, an 0/0 can't train you. You must attend a cdl school; that's the new regulation. The cowboy days are over.
CDL school is free through the WIOA Program in your state.

The original post that you responded to was from 2018. At that time, it could be done. Things have changed since then and now you must get formal training and be signed off by a certified Training Provider. You can look at the link below or as China said, find a school.
