I drive a 2016 t680, weighs about 21k fully stocked and fueled. CDL for 7 years but no endorsements, no tickets since 2018, only at fault accident was in 2019.

Experience with reefer and dry van and have drivin in all 48 contiguous states except Vermont and in all seasons. No issues getting endorsements if a company can assist, no issues with learning other trailer types.

In the 7 years I've been driving I've only had a single late load that wasn't due to a breakdown since I always trip plan to arrive atleast an hour early.

All my driving has been OTR and the longer the trip the more I like it. Typically stay out several months at a time and only take a week or two off.

My only travel preferences are no Los Angeles and surroung areas, no Chicago, and no New York City and surround areas.

I don't have a passport but do want to get one since I'd love to go to Canada and Alaska.

Personally never had an issue with Atlanta (easy to take 285 around it) or Nashvilla (Briley Pkwy around it) and time your trip through outside of rush hour. Most shipper/receivers are outside those roads from the cities and usually not hard to find parking once you get 30 or so miles away from the cities. None of that applies to the whole area from Los Angeles to San Bernadino nor to New York City and it's surrounding areas including northern NJ. Slightly applies to the Chicago area and I don't have an issue going through/by Chicago but no picking up or delivering in/around the city.

I don't blame anyone not wanting to run LA or New York. Chicago is different though it's a good freight market more often than not.

I don't know about new York but pretty much all of the California population zones suck for semis.

Here’s my take as an owner operator. Keep in mind this is my experience and knowledge from other people I know as well. This usually goes against what people on this forum think.

I have worked for carriers that have 5-25 trucks and have always been very happy and successful. The problem is these smaller companies have a higher risk of taking advantage of owner ops. What I did was just talk to my mechanic and ask him. He works on many trucks and truckers love to complain so he knows what companies have the happiest owner operators. I made more money with these smaller carriers than I ever did with large companies.

That said do what you want and hope for the best.

I run all over CA and never had an issue. All the truck routes are well signed. All the commercial zones are grouped together in each city. Parking is easy too, just google maps satellite view and pick a street in a commercial district and zoom in person to see if there’s no parking signs. Dead end streets even better. I save good parking locations on google maps.

Most every where I go. Isn't designed for semis. And some places I go. Semis aren't allowed.

You might get the easy areas. Flatbeds and tankers. Do NOT.
