I can move mine up and down so it reflects from straight down my door up to where I can see into the lane next to me.
Can anyone explain the reason for the passenger mirror above window?

Ok honestly if you need this mirror to back up I hope iI' never next to you, it serves no purpose in day to day trucking.maybe some designer thought it looked cool, maybe you can see down a loose fitting shirt as the girl hitchhiking gets into the truck but I'm sure you don't need it to do your job correctly.
Simplespeed, Nava-jo x press and TruckRunner Thank this. -

It is usefull when you are barking in off a narrow street and there are cars parked along the road, or cars parked right were you need to swing the tractor through. It tells you how close you really are without having to guess or use you Spidey sence to figure out where they might be.
If you don't know what it's for then you have really havent had to back up yet..TruckRunner Thanks this. -

The first time you pull onto a narrow scale with high sides you will know what that mirror is used for. It is very handy when manuevering in tight quarters to see exactly how close your blind side is to objects.
