Can anyone from UPS explain pay?

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but I'd be careful with UPS. I read, they are ELIMINATING, not laying off over 12,000 jobs. They had a 27% loss in revenue last year. $23/hr doesn't sound right, they were paying that in the 80s. I read, the average pay for a UPS, T/T driver is about $76,000/year, or about $36.50/hr. I still think UPS is a no-brainer, and hope you get the job. Don't worry, UPS will be around a while, and you'll have the best job there is. Good luck, I'd check that wage again, something fishy there.

I think that's a TPL looking for drivers to haul point to point short distance for UPS.

Why is the location blacked out?

 

Maybe it's for TForce Freight? I know they only advertise 1100-1250/wk where I live and they're owned by UPS, I believe.

 

UPS just took over the FedEx account with the US Postal Service. That's a big deal and good info for drivers.

 

Tforce is owned by Transforce not UPS.
Starting wage has always been low at UPS. 8 years ago, UPS frieght started at $17.

 

I think that's an actual UPS posting, not a TPL. I have an acquaintance who "invited" me to apply as a UPS feeder driver and the starting pay sucked, so I turned it down on that alone.

But, the union scale is a quick progression! This was like back in 2020 and it was:
Year 1- $23 ph
Year 2- $26 ph
Year 3- $33 ph
Year 4- $42 ph

 

You are correct that they have cut a large number of jobs across the country. They are still generally one of the most stable jobs in the transportation industry and to tell someone to be careful of them is slightly misguided. I think they will struggle through with 9Billion in profit this year. As far as the $23 an hour stating pay. That is called pay progression and it is very common and the only time I am aware UPS starts drivers at near full pay is when they had to hire hundreds of drivers in a short time period. They do this to get experienced drivers to leave good jobs to go to work for them. Chicago did this a few years ago when they added several hundred team positions. If the OP can get hired full time he won’t ever struggle for money even during progression because UPS generally has more OT than most companies. At $23 an hour working 60 hours a week, which is very typical at UPS he will earn $80,000. 4 years later he will be over $150,000 a year.
