Can anyone give me a list of some steep downgrades and where they are?

These are a few in the NC area that I cross frequently.....

I26 between Johnson City Tn and Greenville, SC has a couple steep ones
I77 in WV has a few steep ones
I77 over Fancy Gap near the VA/NC line
    I40 in Black Mountian, NC
    I40 near the TN/NC border
I75 near TN/KY border... Cumberland Gap I think...

    youve already mentioned Monteagle...

Look out your windshield... read the signs... you shall find what you seek.

Yeah I know, But those are some interesting streets none the less. I need to grab a skateboard(not a flatebed) and roll down some of those lol Only ones I've heard of were donner & grapvine. Figured you experienced guys could go more in depth about highway roads.

sandstone on 64 in wv is another one in the area. 6 miles I think @7%. Certainly doesn't compare to those out west but a big one for those of us on this side of the river.

if you really want some off the beaten path fun (not lol) try US50 from Winchester va to I-79 in wv. Miles upon miles of 7-9%+ up and down and back to back 180 degree switchbacks. On a bike it would be fun. In a big truck with 44k in the box not so much and a real learning experience with at the time 4 months in the seat. Never followed company routing again after that lol

It is all gonna depend on the road conditions. Some are ok but throw in a little snow or rain and things totally change. Just in Montana I can name a few...

    Homestake
    McDonald
Fletcher (not that steep but very winding on the East side)
Rogers (never been over it but here that it is worse than Fletcher in the winter.)
    and at times....

    Between Butte and Helena
Bozeman Pass (Gotta watch for Ice in the canyon)
Marias Pass (Not very high or steep but it gets more snow being the furthest north.)
Then you have I 90 between Billings and Harden that has some good hills.

Others I can think of ....

    White Pass in Washington
    Blue Mountains in Oregon

You can run into a steep hill at any point. Even on seemingly flat land. The first time I ran across hwy 200 in Montana I came up this little hill and all of a sudden there was no road in my vision. It dropped off that quick for about a mile. I was in way too high of gear for that downhill but hey what is a little 75 mph trip down a steep hill?

I remember in CDL class, a picture in the classroom of a road sign for a 17% grade, somewhere in the mountains of western NC. No idea what type of road it is or the length of the grade however.
