if u need to sleep in a truck while someone else drives it u come to some sort of agreement with the other driver about watching you i simply just kept on driving untill i couldnt continue and when i went back in the bunk a doctor couldnt have woke me u get used to the type of deep sleep that it requires to sleep in that type of situation u must trust the guy driving to stop before he rolls it! so if ur tired enough u will sleep anywhere ur never totally asleep but ur resting and hopefully ur driver at the wheel is smooth shifting cause payback is a #####.. hope this helps and its one of many little stepping stones we all done hit before so hammer down radio off!

sorry I'll go back to my corner now..Lilbit Thanks this. -
You actually go into the restroom for this? Whats wrong with the priviacy of your bunk???
or is my brain in a ditch???

No, I dont go into a restroom for that, but I'm guessing it might be better for a team driver. (Not sure that activity is acceptable in a lower bunk that has to be shared with the other driver, just guessing...) I've never teamed, and will NEVER team drive, so it's just a suggestion.

sometimes a full belly helps me sleep, and less sugar in your diet might help, it takes time to adjust.

Update: I started monitoring my pepsi max intake since the last posting. It seems that I was in an never ending cycle of caffeine consumption which made it hard to sleep, less sleep = more time tired,.... then driving which meant more caffeine...lol
we slept in Salinas, Ca for a time waiting on the next load, and I started drinking only water 3 hours before I stopped driving... I started sleeping RIGHT after my head hit the pillow.... woke up more refreshed... and needed less caffeine the next day....
I feel alot better already... more rested, more alert, more stamina. Still alittle awkward sleeping in a rolling truck... but I am able to now.
I have 2 and a half weeks left in training before my upgrade test.123456 Thanks this. -
Keep drinking alot of water...............

run a hose from the exhaust to the bunk window--guarenteed to make you sleep---waking up might be a problem tho
outerspacehillbilly Thanks this.
