I am looking at purchasing a truck(searching online) and notice this wire disconnected. Any idea what it is? And what it does?

Look closer. Its not disconnect. It plugged off. Probably for optional equipment.

Just a blanked off plug. Nothing to be concerned about. Just about every truck on the road has blanked off plugs somewhere.
Why have dozens of different wiring harnesses available when you can do it all with just 1 and just not use some of the plugs?lester Thanks this. -
That plug is the Cummins side diagnositic connection point . Cummins recommends using this connection to flash the engine ECM to eliminate clutter or disturbance on the OEM datalink. All newer Cummins engines have this connector somewhere on the engine. We call it "connecting to the 3 pin". Nexiq has the adapter to plug in direct. It is handy if you are trying to Isolate a CAN issue.
