Being your own boss is great if you can also balance that check book and manage to save enough money, perhaps working for another company and letting them manage all the maintenance might be a better option for you in the short term till you can get a better credit rating. The key is finding someone that will lend you the cash for another purchase, they are naturally going to check your credit score, current income, assets, if you own a home that may be enough to secure a loan, however if the bank still owns it that won't work either. Use a credit card and make regular payments this will also improve your credit rating.
