I'm 25 years old have a clean driving record with the exception of being rear ended while stopped in traffic over a year age. I live in Lexington, KY I have no experience in trucking and will be going to school for my cdl soon. I am a wounded veteran so the VA will pay for my school at no cost to me. I am looking to see if an Owner Operator or small fleet owner would be willing to hire me on. I am willing to stay out 2 to 3 weeks at a time, for me that's easy compared to being overseas months...LOL. I really just don't want to work for one of these big companies that has high turnover rate. I was in the Marine Corps so I don't need any company to try to paint me a rose garden about trucking and promise me a bunch of crap, I just need to know what's expected of me so I can meet and exceed those expections. If anyone knows any other small fleet owners or owner operator in my area that would hire a dependable, honest, dedicated, and hard working individual that's looking to start in a new career please let me know.
Can anyone help me out?

To be honest, I would strongly suggest you go to one of these companies that take on CDL graduates. No matter where you go, it will be what you make of it. Do your research and make a commitment Besides, most insurance companies make it prohibitive for owner operators to bring on someone with no experience.
I wish you all the luck in the world and am sincere about that. Keep us posted...DevilDog911 Thanks this. -
First off, THANK YOU for your service!
It's rather hard to get hired with no experience, but I will tell you what we did when my hubby got through with 10 weeks with CREngland... We picked up the local telephone directory and called every coapny listed and noted who was hiring. Went and got apps, and turned them in. Less than 2 days later, he was working again.RACEFAN and DevilDog911 Thank this. -
Well thank you for your help I know I'm looking for a long shot and will probably have to go to one of these slime ball companies. I think Roehl wouldn't be to bad if I could get flatbed, I've also thought about Werner too if i could get flatbed division and be solo I really don't want to team with anybody. I applied at TMC but they turned me down they never did give me a reason. Well I hopefully I'll see you out there soon. Thanks for your help.

Do what I told you first! The first company y husband worked for after CRE was a small local guy, who's company didn't llok like much, but HOT #### the money was good! I'm not joking. The trucks weren't the prettiest thing on the road, but the money he could have spent making the trucks pretty was spent on keeping them in good shape, running wise, and paying his drivers very, very well!
Okay I will call everyone in the phone book first. I thought you were telling me to go to CRE first...and I've read enough to know to say the **** away from them LOL. -

Semper Fi MARINE.
They are right. You are kind of stuck with one of the rotten Company's till you get that magic year under your belt.
Then you can move on to one of the better one's. And the fact that you stuck it out will look good on that Job App. Might want to think about getting into Tankers down the road. Thats were you can make good money and not kill yourself to do it.
I wish you the best of luck, You Sir have earned it. -
Well again thanks for everybody's help so far and I'll call some local companies tomorrow. Oh and GuysLady your welcome for my service and thank you for the thanks.
