Can anyone tell me about layovers

That is the perfect answer, BUT IT IS A WRONG ANSWER !!
Unless you are home every week, you will have plenty of time off on the road. The 70 hour rule guarantees you plenty of time off.
Some weeks, I run 600 plus miles a day, thus logging 10 to 11 hours per day, pushes me into the 34 hour reset, that would leave you about an 11 hour break to hit the tittie bar per day, plus the 34 hours off.
or some weeks I run 8 hours a day, that means working 7 days per week, but, still time for off duty activities during most days.
I'm in a hotel now, sort of broke down? I'll walk down and see what the Bull Fries are made of

 

He may not get the strip clubs but plenty of lions den stores up and down the interstates he can park at while he's on these layovers lol

 

And to think I started seeing my first nekked girls in Playboy, and couldn't wait to go "read them" at the store, ah yes, the good ole days of porn IN FRONT of the counter.>!!

 

Heck, I took dispatch from a certain strip joint in Gary, In. many years ago. Plus a couple in Cleveland.
But basicly you see one strip joint, they all look the same.
Remember to leave the ATM card in the truck....
Lapdances are ok, but you get all reved up and no place to go.
Unless you are at certain ones who provide onsite sleeping quarters you can rent by the hour.. That even sounds to costly for me..

 

It also helps if the driver is on the ball and can keep dispatch apprised of his status! Of course for those that have the on board baby sitter, the dispatcher may be more aware than the driver!

 

That's why they use me to train the fresh meat in the dispatch office. I don't need to be babysat lol.

 

Now THAT sounds like a truly UGLY job!
