At any truck stop there are numerous free publications at the front door. One magazine focuses specifically on regional jobs.

many of the large carriers have regional and dedicated accounts. I'm with Roehl and actually turned a regional down to stay national. Look for companies who are based in NC or at least nearby. For instance, there always seems to be regional and or more localized routes with Roehl in the Wisconsin area and thats home base. It might take a few months to a year for one to open up too. At Roehl it seems that it is rather easy to move around if it's available and you are a productive driver.

I believe that all the big carriers have regional fleets. However, as a newbie you will likely not be able to sign onto the regional fleets until after 3-6 months of OTR. Same goes for dedicated accounts or other options within the company. Even experienced drivers signing onto the major carriers will need to go OTR before landing their dream job within the company.

NC resident here newbietruckeroo7. Once you get finished with your schooling try and give GSF a call. they are located in the Raliegh/Garner area probably what a hour and half , maybe two hour drive from you. I worked for them for 30 years before retiring in 2011. Great place , good pay and benefits and you'll not have to do the OTR , unless that's your goal. PM me if you have any questions.
