When I was very little, a few years old, my mom told me...
Don't touch the iron. It is hot!

So after she walked or looked away I put my hand up and touched it.

I don't remember most details about the incident. I remember the 'Don't touch... hot' part, but not why she walked away, if she did, or how I was so close to the iron to touch it. Heck, she could have been holding me.
    But I touched it.

I touched it because I did not understand what 'hot' was.
Blistered fingers taught me what 'hot' was.

If that's the case, then finish the 6 mos. or pay it off and leave. Plenty of companies will hire you.

I say do what you say and say what you do. You agreed to it and it's just 6 months so I recommend you finish it out and then move on.

    Raohstedd Thanks this.

Keeping the truck moving is one part of it.
Only one, and NOT the most important part in my opinion.

It is also about doing it safely, on time, within certain limits.
Those three things determine if you will accept a load, at least it does for me. My truck moves only so long as those things are taken into account.

And those three things are determined by me, not my company.
I determine what hours I can most safely run. No overnight driving for one.
I determine how much time I actually need between driving shifts, taking into account things I need to get done that day. Like getting a shower or doing laundry, which takes more time out of my day.
I add those things in to the '10 hour break', I don't subtract them out of it.

The time I need is the time I take.
If the load offer won't allow for it, I turn it down.

    NavigatorWife and Raohstedd Thank this.

You will learn to embrace the doubles. I love em. So much easier to get around in town with, cuts down in unload time for me because I just drop the kite at my first stop and keep rolling to my second stop instead of having to jump on a forklift and take 20 pallets off. Just try not to focus on how much they are jumping around on you and if they start tugging on the truck a lil just let off the throttle for a second or two and then floor it and they will straighten right out for you.

Thank you all so much for your comments, really helped me out and I am very thankful! I honestly don't mind driving with doubles, they are really nice when making turns. It's the hookup procedure that I can't stand. Driving is my strong suit, and backing is my Achilles heel. Backing with the dolly, I'm terrible. Hell any backing in the FedEx hubs is a nightmare, especially at night, I crushed both the left and right splash guard hangers trying to maneuver around at the hub. I'm good at backing bobtail tho lol

With the experience you'll have after 6 months. I think you can do better than Estes or Pride.
Go for the Gold.... Try Old Dominion or UPS. Just admit to them you got suckered. The experience you have. I'm sure both will very seriously consider you.

I always have consideration for doubles. One time I was at a truck stop and other. About four entrances to this truck stop. Here was a big open area obviously for doubles to park. It had about six day cab, short trailers in it. These guys could have very easily backed into a parking spot. But no! They're too better than everyone else to do that. Here a poor doubles couldn't find a parking spot. So he ended up blocking one of the four exit lanes to this place. I pulled in the same driveway, entrance lane. Wanted to park to the left at a restaurant. Somebody else parking there. Waited a few seconds to see if he was actually going to pull in. I didn't want to get stuck. Here one of these day cab, short trailer guys starts having a fit in his cab. I just had to move instantly for him. I just threw my arms up squalking back at him. He couldn't wait a lousy few seconds. I swear... these guys create a bad situation. Forcing poor doubles stuck parking in a bad place. And this screwball has a fit. F! Those guys!
