yeah man, you'd fit right in at a mega. just be sure and have a 400 watt kicker and over driven modulation on your cb and to drive 62(topped out) in a 70 while homesteading in the middle lane.you must also always wear your headset for the bluetooth and talk on the phone as you sign the fuel ticket and continue talking,or pretending to,as you walk back to pull your super singled non truck away from the fuel island.

    welcome to the industry.

He forgot to mention his 3 DUI in the last 5 years and he still has a house arrest bracelet on. Those facts won't keep him from getting hired will they?

I always hate to dash someone hopes, but trucking would not work with your situation. The sleep schedule and stress level would throw you off your routine and routine is very important to your mental health. For your well being, I would look to another line of work. Sorry.

The problem will be if you go paranoid in a situation that where you can't stop. You might find yourself with another 6-10 hours to get to your delivery when you start having an episode, and you still need to get through rush hour traffic or traffic gets backed up from an accident and there's dozens of police cars, ambulances, wreckers, flashing lights, etc. etc.

How would you be able to handle a situation like that if an episode is coming on?

Simply pulling over and parking as soon as you have a feeling you have an episode coming on would be the safest option. However, from an employer's point of view or the customer's point of view, they want to see that critical load delivered on time. It will be difficult for an employer to suddenly have to find another driver to repower that load at an out of the way truck stop or rest area whenever you have the need to stop driving.

I think if you want to be involved with the transportation industry it will be best to avoid driving on the road. You might consider being a yard dog, working in dispatch, or in some other position where you can be close to home and your support group.

Again, I disagree with the majority here. I cannot say if you will be allowed into this industry. That will be for the medical people and you to discuss. I can say that the world has changed to some small degree. A person with your condition would have been burned at the stake in Salem, Massachusetts. Hearing voices was always the work of Satan.

With education we now know better. But some of us have a hard time dealing with those who are different. Jokes about mental illness are things that we do to hide how terrified we are of having our brains betray us. What you are going through is something I would never want to have to fast. Give me cancer but let me did with my brain being something I can trust.

You have my respect for trying.
