    Thank you for replying, I have no kids or wife so I am ready to be out on the road for weeks or months at a time.

    Many, many drivers live in the truck for years and bank lots of money.

    @want2changecareers --

    A main reason that I got into trucking -- I also had no wife/GF/fiancee and no pets -- so I thought the OTR lifestyle would be a good fit (also -- I am a bit of a loner).

    If you still think you might want to try trucking -- go into it aware of what's waiting for you:

    Some in the business world would have us think that a recession will start sometime in 2024.

    Well -- in trucking -- it has already started....:confused:

    With that in mind -- try to time your exit from a nearby CDL school such that:
    • your 2019 traffic accident is over 5 years old
    • your last DUI is over 10 years old
    The above will make getting started easier for you (based on CDL job applications I have seen).

    Also -- as others have suggested above -- answer application questions with only the info required -- AND NOTHING ELSE. Don't "volunteer" other info that wasn't specifically requested in each qtn.

    Right now -- becuz of the trucking recession -- jobs for new CDL owners are much fewer & farther between. Freight for new(er) drivers isn't there (in many cases) like it ought to be, either.

    Sooooo....take your time.

    One thing to consider; don't know how close you are to the northern border, but with2 DUI's you will NOT be allowed into Canada. So, look for companies which don't run up there.
