safeway is a good one for that, as soon as they hear detention they are on the ball and can unload a whole truck in 10 minutes

Yes lonelyswmtrucker, if its your customer then yes of course you would go straight to them. If its your customer you wouldn't have a choice because you wouldn't have a broker.

I spent 5 hours the other day getting loaded. 1st, I was early and waited to get a door. Then, after 2 hrs. they refused the trailer because of graphite residue on the floor of the trlr. Down the road to swap trlrs ( got luckey, 3 miles away) got back and had to wait more. Through all of this I was courteous and as a result I was not moved all they to the back of the line. Crap happens, get used to it. Oh, no detention since it was technicly my fault for the trailer. I swept it but graphite sticks to the floor and they were worried about contaminaition. Sometimes its your fault, sometimes not. Ask your dispatch for detention, that is your only recourse, billing the shipper will only cause you problums.
