They can get you for ABS not working as it is part of the brake system and rules states all parts of the brake system must work properly.
I got written up on last inspection for abs also.
Working right my comes on, then goes out once the truck moves over 5 mph. -
Just in case you didn't know, the officer that has the final say in a data q challange is the same officer that wrote the warning.. Until they change that its gonna be a tough battle to win..

It's a "fix it" ticket....get it fixed, then get the ticket signed off by the mechanic and return for a clearing inspection....after that, it becomes moot!
-
I contested a DOT inspection because the idiot DOT officer didn't know the rules or the regs. Went thru the DataQ system and got it amended. Always check what the DOZt officer is doing. Don't assume he knows everything about the regs.

YEAH!!! But he/she might have learned it on the INTERNET, therefore it must be true!!!!

Your equipment isnt required to have abs indicators for the trailer in cab because of the 97 tractor....It doesnt have the system to recognize it in the cab n it wasnt required before 2001 to be on the dash... Had the exact same scenario n they got me on the abs light on trailer not activating with the key.... Used DATA q n they removed it....

FMCSA 393.55

The ABS malfunction circuit and signal shall meet the requirements of FMVSS No. 121 (49 CFR 571.121, S5.1.6.2(b)). -
ABS lights are one of their favorite things to write up. I got written up because the ABS light doesn't cycle of the trl when you turn the key. But it DOES cycle everytime you hit the brake pedal. Not one of 4 different shops at Schneider could tell me what was the correct way for it to work and neither could a Scalemaster in a neighboring State. Just ridiculous the crap they can and do write you up for.
