Do you have authority and insurance ? Or are you looking to lease on with a carrier ? What is your location ?

There are a lot of ways you can contract your driver services and truck to common carriers as well as directly to certain companies who may have seasonal need for additional truck/driver. A lot of businesses today are looking for ways to eliminate capital expenditures in an "iffy" economic climate, as well, these same companies are trying to avoid hiring high-liability driver employees if possible so it makes sense for them to contract a set rate for a given set of expectations and services.

But there are a lot of work ethic, legal, business, financial, and "salesmanship" requirements. It will be difficult and costly to get insurance with no proven driving and business track history.

There are always local companys looking for local contract basis delivery solutions.
Typically all that is needed is a medium sized pick up.
A box van would be over-kill.

Fellow in my area has been doing it for several years. His truck has a liftgate that I think he uses frequently as he does some deliveries to job-sites.

Get your affairs in order (authority - if you go it on your own - and insurance) as was mentioned in the earlier post.

Hit up anyone who could use your type of equipment, even if they have trucks of their own (sometimes need more capacity than they have). You'll get some "no" replies, but will hopefully get business out of some contacts. Good luck!!

Didn't say where you are, but try a local moving firm (Allied/United/NorthAmerican/Mayflower) A lot of times when a big truck comes to town they need a "Shuttle" truck to get into the actual neighborhood where the house is.

Also if you ever watch Shipping Wars there's demand for "specialty handling".
