I'm about to graduate this trucking school with PTDI, but I heard the companies wont hire you as OTR, you have to do local deliveries first and gain some experience before you can hit the interstate and OTR, but I want to do OTR solo, is this common for a school graduate or do I have to do some local deliveries job first before going on OTR solo in the interstate?
Can I do OTR fresh out of school?

usually it's the opposite.. OTR then Local.

You actually have it backwards, most local company's wont hire you unless you have OTR experience. some company's wont hire you right out of school but some like, Roehl, Werner, swift, Schneider, ect will hire you. I myself am graduating this month and staring with roehl. There going to send me out with a trainer for a month first then I'll be on my own. All the company's ive seen will send you out with a trainer for a month or two depending on the company then you go solo.
Hope this helps. -
Half my CDL class was hired no problems by OTR companies...the rest like my self stayed local doing oilfield related work.
