It isn't about him being on any med. It's about him having panic attacks while driving. WTF does he think his job is going to be? I mean seriously if I had a panic attack every time I got near a shovel I sure as hell wouldn't get a job shoveling dog ####.

No that is not the issue from the OP. His issue is can he drive on Ativan or not. I'm pretty sure he does not have a company to deal with yet since he hasn't passed all of his test. Had you bothered to read my entire post including all of the links, you would have understood why I suggested the OP talk to his Dr. in private about #9, the reason I posted the links was to educate and inform. The reason I suggested talking to his Dr. in private is to keep uneducated/uninformed people from piling on, making uneducated diagnosis/judgment,and making the OP feel worse than he already does. His Company/insurance company (when he gets one) will handle the situation however they see fit. If you had read my complete post you would have noticed that I said he would be LEGAL and I had no idea if he would be SAFE. Assuming you are not his Dr. and not the one that wrote his prescription, neither you or I have the education or the training to make that determination.

I read your post. If you had read mine, you would have realized it did not disagree with what you stated. It only went further to state that the company and their insurance agency would say.

I have dealt with patients on this medication and have not based anything that I have seen on my post. I have left it in a neutral state.

I'm usually a pretty calm guy, but one time I took a wrong turn in San Francisco while driving a semi around with a 53 foot trailer, and my blood pressure about went through the roof while I was driving around the city not knowing where I was going. Up and down very narrow streets, driving up on the sidewalks, barely missing parked cars any praying I would not need to backup. The OP should think about that a little, I imagine being lost in a city like San Francisco while driving a truck would not be fun for anyone who has anxiety attacks. It was near the top of my list of things I did not like about OTR trucking.

Actually I have read both of our posts several time, trying to figure out how to explain it without sounding like a jerk, I think we are on the same page just different paragraphs. The un-named company will do as it see fits no matter what you and I think, the whole point of my original post was try to educate the OP so he could make an educated decision. And in the mean time maybe stop some of the other people "piling on" telling him how dangerous it is, and how he should know better, all making him feel worse than he all ready does.

Yeah no matter reality just pull yourself up by the bootstrap and get on with it.. Is there a pill for compassion or what ever makes people think they know what is happening to another person. I had an undiagnosed condition for 30 years the doctors would tell me I was healthy or give me drugs for something else. I found what I had on my own and it was not depression or anxiety. It was a thyroid problem. If you think you are depressed or having trouble controlling your emotions go to stop the thyroid madness website and look around. This is just one aspect of brain chemistry and there are probably 25 million undiagnosed people running around with the wrong brain chemistry because the Drs refuse to diagnose for the the symptoms. The way the OP described his experience it could be that. My point is that his problem has a cause and the medical people are not looking for it. He is not alone.. And buy the way I worked all the way through my problems as a cdl driver. Work is what I held onto. nobody is dead or injured or dented.
