I wouldn't worry about it, don't hang out at the truck stops around Barstow. Just go in do the deal and slide back out.

I run to Cali 4 or 5 times a year with a 2000 Pete no problems. I see older trucks every time I’m out there!

Constantly seeing non- compliant trucks in Socal. Most have Cali registration on them. I was actually pulled over on Tippecanoe st. in San Bernardino and had my emissions checked by a ARB officer. I thought the whole thing was hilarious as I drive a 17' Cascadia. I joked with the officer telling him I thought they were an urban legend and there are obvious trucks he should be checking instead of mine, he just shrugged and put one of his stickers on my windshield.
That is the only time I've ever seen them out.speedyk, D.Tibbitt, blacklabel and 2 others Thank this. -
Unless it changed lately. THere's an exception for instate trucks only rolling 1,000 miles. Out of state trucks 5;000 miles. I don't roll there anymore so I don't remember the exact details. ANd it may have changed lately.
And yes. Old trucks still roll all day long. Local old trucks.
Last I heard, couple years back.Cali registration was being denied. Didn't matter in state or out of state.
Guess that never took effect.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
In state registration did take affect that’s why there’s been so many trucks for sale. matter of fact I even bought one of those trucks for pennies on the dollar. Some may have other ways around it that I do not know.

Depends on who you talk To , Iv heard of drivers getting the truck ticketed, parked in private lot, a os driver told me he towed his truck out of the state, must have been the first scale, on the way in, he runs a lot of permit loads ,so it wasn't yard to determine how many miles he had ran in the state, it's on my cab card but I don't go there

There are plenty of old trucks still running out there, and plenty of lunch counter stories to go along with what people hear happens to old trucks. Just like not meeting KPRA. Everyone has a story about a friend of a friend who had to get their 53ft trailer hauled out on the rail. After two years of running CA every week with a 52ft spread I finally got a ticket, and it was $137. Lol

California is a nightmare, don't go there. The fewer trucks that go into the state, the more loads there are for me to haul here and with better rates.
