Congrats Aries. Now that you have seen it done, it will give you confidence to do it yourself when the time comes!

What's next ?? Just waiting around for the Evo II part. Building a shopping list of things to get for my truck when I get it. I may be here awhile since I asked the company if it would be possible to have the same trainer again even if it meant spending a few extra days at the house until his routes worked out. Got along well with him and I think he is a decent trainer. Not terribly worried about doing the driveway backup myself as I am fairly comfortable with backing (daytime). Narrow backups and tight backups at the truck stops and loading docks have not been a problem. My trainer claims that I backup as if I had been doing it for several years.

I do appreicate everyones input on the driveway stuff

I wonder how well those hand operated spotlights work. the kind the cops use. it might help with the night backing at the house. the lights from the trailer will help too. sounds like you're a regular yard jockey already.

Nothing like a yard jockey yet. The few I've seen are quick and good. I definitely do not have the experience to size up what I need to do at a glance and back the truck. A proper setup seems to be the key and it takes me a couple of minutes to plan my setup. After that I've been able to get it in on the first try. But they were simple 45 close quarter backs to the dock and only one of the 11 were done at night. The hurdle I have to get over are the suspension bridges like the one at Port Heuron comming back from Canada. It scared the crap out of me.

That bridge at Port Huron is nothing. You should try the old bridge from Cape Girardeau into Illinois, or the one from Wickliffe Ky that goes into a small section of Illinois and then into Mo.

I do that when they give me 48's to make my deliveries with, and I still can't get in to half the places I have to get in to. Nothing like handtrucking stuff a mile...

You must have a power tailgate! If I cant get my 53' in a dock door or they dont have an outside forklift the freight isnt coming off! They will have to reload it onto a straight truck with a power tailgate!
