I am considering starting a new career as a truck driver. A couple of years ago my wife got a good job and we sold our house of 15 years and moved to a nice place in the country. My wife's job didn't work out and we ended up filing bankruptcy and getting forclosed on the home. Will this keep me from getting into trucking. I have had the same job for 18 years if that counts for anything.
Can I get hired after a bankruptcy?

no it should not have much effect on you

It all depends on the company. My company didn't want anybody that might be tempted to steal and a bad credit report might be an indicator. This is their reasoning not mine. I feel that a credit report should not be run on any driver. Your case is a good reason why. You've worked at the same job for 18 years and no credit report should tarnish that. But it all depends on the company.

if it were not for bad credit i wouldnt have any credit lol

Milby,
I have a bankruptcy on my credit record and it has not been a problem for me so far. Also, I have yet to see a trucking company ask on a drivers application as of yet if you have filed bankruptcy in the past. You should be fine. God bless you !

look in the mirror... if you can see somebody staring back at you... and they have a pulse... you're hired.
