I am going to start CDL school and I was kind of worried because I have a domestic violence misdemeanor from 2008 on my record.... The school says don't worry about it but I am still concerned.
Can I get hired with a misdemeanor?

I seriously doubt it will be a problem and on many (most) applications I don't even know that it would require a disclosure according to the way the question is worded.
I would think you could also get a haz-mat endorsement and TWIC card if you decided to, if that's all there is to be of concern.
The only time it might be an issue is maybe if you applied to haul sensitive cargo at a handful of places that run very extensive background checks and have very stringent hiring policies concerning misdemeanors as well as felonies. -
Shouldn't be a problem. Your dispatcher will take you more seriously when you threaten to kick his @##

The school is correct; don't worry about it. Many companies will hire you.
Start submitting applications during the first week of school; don't wait until after graduation. -
