It depends. If you were convicted of a felony, then probably not. Mostly because a felony would disqualify you from getting a passport. The driving school should be able to tell you.

I was arrested for reckless driving. No drugs or alcohol. I was racing another car and was being followed and didnt know it. HEY.... I was just a dumb kid having fun. I dont even remember the actual charges. I am assuming I was convicted since The judge said "The only way you will learn a lesson is go to jail" Three days in LA County Jail. I worked. Never had another ticket.

It doesn’t have to be a felony to prohibit you from Canada and having a passport does not mean Canada will let you in.

    From http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/australia-australie/visas/inadmissible-interdite.aspx?lang=eng.......

Almost any criminal conviction will bar you from Canada, including reckless driving.

The page at http://www.canadainternational.gc.c...sas/rehabilitation-readaptation.aspx?lang=eng goes into further details.

I was sent up there to deliver a load this past winter. They pulled me into a room and asked about a misdemeanor from 28 years ago. When I couldn't explain the details of the arrest I was accused of withholding information. I said well, it was nearly three decades ago and I was drunk at the time. Excuse me if I can't remember the fine details. After two searches of my truck and a full XRay of my truck and a violent pat down I was denied access to Canada. I was escorted back to the border. They are A-holes!

I'll Stay in the US. I didnt like being a foreigner.

Yes. Check the Canadian border website. See about getting pre approved before you get meet their border agents.

In my case I could go thru a process and possibly gain access. Prove I am rehabilitated and some other steps. Apparently no run-ins with the law in 28 years isn't proof.

There is no way to know for sure if cbsa will allow you in. At the discrediting of the officer who is interviewing you. The best way to tell us to apply for a FAST card. Both countries have to review and accept you criminal background, so if you can get a fast card, your golden.
