I’ve learnt that if you have dpf problems it’s better to go straight to Cummins or kenworth/peterbilt if it’s a Paccar. They can do all the tests properly with all the different parts of the system, instead of half ### guessing games. It’ll cost you but they’re usually bang on with the diagnosis.
Can I initiate a forced regen while driving? X15

We all have our little quirks when it comes to our trucks and other items dear to our hearts. Some like more chrome, some like more power and speed, and some, like me, are on a quest to see how much I can improve my fuel mileage AND i f possible reduce my emission expenses. I far prefer to spend/waste my money on cool flashy little tools and trinkets than may end up doing nothing, but I feel I have to try, than relying on known faulty engineering at the factory. (like this stupid collision mitigation crap that senses guard rails on twisty roads)
Most of us on this site, at least us old guys, know of a good shop here and there that we've done business with for years and mostly trust certain techs in those shops. Each tech in each shop around the country and up north, will have differing experiences with the same engine or truck brand than the next. If I walked into Carlton truck repair (Oregon) 30 years ago and asked which is better cat or cummins, I'd get a whole differing opinion than if I drove to DSU (Oregon) and asked the same. Carlton works on loggers, dump, and farm trucks. DSU worked on OTR and city trucks.
To me what Ryan says about performing full regens more often makes sense and agrees with many of the techs I trust who's first order of business when a truck comes in with common complaints is to......force a full regen and see if the issues goes away. So I'd have to make an appointment to do that and pay them, or,....do that part myself, then if the issue persists, make and appointment.
I asked here about this as PDI was closed for the weekend as were my preferred shops.
But first, ups has to deliver my tuner. And that don't look like it's going to happen. Someone probably saw PDI on the box and decided they'd like to have it more than me.
