I would imagine everybody has heart concerns, somewhere in their family history, why would a guy disclose it. lol

I think it is state by state, but some including here will give you an exemption for full blown diabetes, even when you take insulin shots, but you are restricted to instate commercial driving.

There are several reasons to be restricted to a 1 year physical, does it magically make them a safer driver for that 1 year?

Perhaps less truck wrecks would be better.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some governmental study that thoroughly concludes your coronary won’t kick in until day 366...

All these people with untreated hbp will find out someday that it's nothing to mess with.

I understand that, but think about it, if they are not safe enough for a 2 year physical, what could go wrong in a year?
In all reality, driving a truck is one of the easier jobs for folks that are not 100% physically fit, and the percentages of medically related accidents are low, and I would bet if there were any stats, they would be higher for drivers with a normal 2 year physical than those with 1 year physicals.

I don’t think anyone disputes that drivers who are actively ill with debilitating diseases probably shouldn’t be over the road. The question at hand is legislation. At one time 140/90 was considered “high normal.” Today, 130/80 is the recommended range for hypertension treatments. Health care industries are constantly evolving and changing the rules in their favor. Same goes for the Government. Why shouldn’t the driving industry fight back and do that same?? If you disagree with that, then you’re probably not a driver who cares about longevity and a prosperous future for your industry...

I would love to see a study on what % of crashes was due to medical issues.
