Your not supposed to officially. You can try. If you get caught.....you will be fired & expected to pay 100% of any medical bills.

It is extremely rare where this would be allowed and then you would have to prove she is 100% dependent on you for survival.

There are a minority of companies that allow parents on a policy but that is usually white collar jobs. I doubt you'll see it in trucking.

About the best you can do is help her pay for her own individual policy.

You could move to Alabama and marry her. Then it would be legal.... in Alabama! :biggrin_2559:

Even then the answer is usually no. Both my Mom and my sister are my dependants (I pay all housing, medical, etc) yet I can't put either on my otherwise fantastic insurance.

It's more of an employer thing as they pay part of your premium. Parents are up in age and considered a higher risk which means the employer would have to pay more. As much as trucking companies nickel and dime they see it as an unnecessary expense as most parents work themselves or are retired with Medicare. This type thing is left to those jobs with extensive benefit packages.

Of course you will. Insurance has risen every year for at least the last 20 and likely longer.

If she is your dependent and if she has no w-2 ,w-9 etc.& you may want to check with your policy holder to see if she qualify and if there is an extra premium for her coverage.

Very good question,bc we all have different circumstances. I've needed to put my mom on mine for years, but instead I've had to pay and pay and pay. Now she'll be able to receive her own healthcare!!!
Just go to healthcare.gov and you can see what your options are.( when the website comes back up bc SO many are inquiring the site is jammed up right now.
