wow.. your engine should derate to 55 for a bit before it derates to 5mph. It will never fully stop just make it a pain in the ###. Never put something in your tank unless someone on the internet said its ok!!!!

How did you get that Low?
I get like 3000 miles for Half a Tank or so, mine has a 23gal Tank.
I almost never let mine get below 3/4. -
you're at a dock. are there other trucks there ? do they have DEF tanks ? you already said you had a siphon. I'd ask someone if you could take some or does the place your delivering have any of their own trucks ? maybe they have a few jugs around. if not, I guess figure the closest place to get some and call a cab. gotta be cheaper than having breakdown come out.

Not southbound. Only northbound. It's free going into Jersey.
windsmith Thanks this. -
that toll is only going east bound, if he is on Long Island, there is no toll -
Wow man that's crazy. I know you're new and stuff but some of this truckin' is just common sense. That's right up there with runnin' out of fuel, just no excuse for it.
MackDaddyMark and Rugerfan Thank this. -

What will happen if my truck runs out of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)?
The EPA requires vehicle manufacturers to put measures in place to ensure that vehicles cannot run without DEF. Most manufacturers have approached this in a similar way. Before a truck's DEF tank runs empty the driver is given a series of alerts on their dashboard displays (much the same way as if they were running low on diesel). Generally speaking, when the DEF tank level drops below 10% an amber warning lamp will come on, at 5% this lamp starts flashing and below 2.5% a solid amber warning light is displayed.
If the truck is allowed to run out of DEF completely, the engine's power is reduced. This generally follows the next intentional key-off, when vehicle speed will be limited to 5 mph and a solid red warning will be displayed.

Just find an auto parts store, I think ALL of them carry it now.
