My terminals all have tanks of DEF, I top off whether I need to or not every time I am at a terminal, if I get to half of a tank, which I have not as of yet, I will use what is under my bunk or top off at a fuel stop.

My landloard does road service. He does make good money from water, pee and diesel in DEF tanks. Very Good Money.

Swine urine and de-ionized water. 65% H2O...... Make the DI water at home through a reverse osmose filter. Micromohs should be below 150 but up to 350 ok. ( Micro-moe) ( mineral content expressed in conductivity of water )
See Farmer Jasper for the urine and buy hydrometer at local hobby shop. Water is SG -1. ( specific gravity ) Blend ur own?
Doesn't help now sorry but info may help later. I can ask plant chemist for process if you folks want to try it. -
That's funny......and I have no doubt. What is the price now? $14 a gallon for DEF ?
-
I believe it's $2.67 or so per gallon at the pump in bulk.
For the 2.5 gallon jugs I think it's about $12-14 -
I think I ran for an hour before it turned red. Just don't shut it down before you get some DEF.

Some of the stories he has told me about what drivers have done, that he gets called out for, just make me shake my head and grin. Not all rookies, either.

Lessee....the DEF guage and the blinking light were no indication that you might be low on DEF? I supply all my customers with a 2.5 gallon jug to stash in the truck or toolbox. Yes, rotate it once a year at least.
When I have a fleet owner ask me what happens when his driver runs out of DEF my answer is "Hire a new driver cause this guy ain't watching his guages!!!" Honestly people, it isn't rocket science. Just like your truck does not run without fuel, it won't run without DEF as a matter of law. Would you start across the desert with no fuel in thanks?
