MoneyMotivated, It does not surprise me the treatment that "some" students go through with trainers. I have heard so many of the horror stories over the years. Trainers are SUPPOSED to train, and hone your skills, NOT force you into say a team operation, for his/her benefit, or paycheck. Many people have gone through the training phase and came out ok, while some others suffered at the hands of an idiot that should have never been a trainer.
The loan or payback agreement you have with the other company, WILL NOT hinder you from getting another job, however, it very well may be on any credit report agency list, and that is even IF the company does report it, or holds it, if they do not comply with federal regulations regarding banking laws, something no one ever really checks into. It is or was "an agreement to pay" between you and the trucking company. They had to disclose all pertaining and any information regarding interest payments, payment structure and IT HAS to say they report you to the credit agencies, for non-payment. And this is of course, IF they are backed up by the banks to even "loan out" monies to students. If they did not disclose that they DO report non-payments, but yet threaten you with such, laugh in thier face. They are from that point, likened with loan sharks. The worst they WILL do is break your bones. (not really, but you should get the point)
You will never be the last person to quit a job before your time was done and paid up. Hardly a day goes by and someone doesn't quit. Go back and get your refresher training, look for work, of course you will be asked why you left your job, just make it short and sweet, or just type up an explanation, and include that with your application,s as they always ask, "explain why you left", just makes it easier to have that all neatly typed AND TO THE POINT.
Don't sweat it, you'll be back to work, people have done worse and gotten jobs with less stress.
Can I still work for a trucking company?

I don't think you will have a problem finding another driving job once you take the refresher course. It is your responsibility to make sure you get sufficient rest to do your job and to be compliant with DOT rules. I agree about getting a copy of your DAC, just to see what is on record. DAC comes under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. As such, anything on your file drops off after 7 years.
MoneyMotivated and Chinatown Thank this. -
Don't worry about the debt; you're hirable.
You're debt free from that anyway after 7 years. By now the debt has been turned over to a collection agency which means the collection agency bought your debt from Central Refrigerated for pennies on the dollar and hopes to make a profit by harassing you. You're debt free after 7 years unless you give them even so much as a penny, then the 7 year statute of limitations starts over. Don't sign for any mail from a collection agency and don't authorize anyone else to sign.
Just tell Schneider you were fired and say nothing about the debt.

But yeah, proper time management will make or break a driver, as you found out. I wouldn't recommend going to a mega fleet, though. Look on Craigslist and see who's hiring in the city you want to move to. Somebody somewhere will hire you.Chinatown Thanks this. -

Thank you for clearing that up.Now it sounds more realistic.Companies are notorious for believing the trainers over the students.I would call Central and see if you're still obligated to pay off the schooling since you got fired and if so then fight it.
