That's why I'm asking in the heavy duty mechanic forum if over torquing by 100 ft/lbs is an issue or not. Are you able to answer that question or are you just here to criticize?

Why is that not how it works?

That's good to know thanks. I was watching reviews on different DeWalt impact wrenches where they did actual torque measuring tests and they were all reaching the claimed output but they had to be held down for quite awhile

Torque wrench is the tool you need. rent or borrow one. You will only need it for less than an hour, maybe just 15 minutes.

Had I criticized you, you #### well would have known it.

All I asked was if you did not see an issue with 100lbs over-torque.

Jeez, drink a beer or three.

What type of impact are you referring too ? Air, Battery, 1/2 or 3/4 drive ?

The answer to your post is No. You can not torque anything with an impact.

A torque wrench is calibrated to measure the torque applied to a fastener and to stop turning at a given value.

Just because an impact is rated for a certain torque does not mean you achieved or exceeded the torque applied to the fastener. Most pneumatic impact wrenches do not deliver full ratings as advertised, but maybe 1/2 if you’re lucky. Battery power is even less.

Your best wheel attachment method should be to install with an impact that you know does not achieve the final torque on initial tightening and then final torque with a calibrated torque wrench. The fastener should turn on final torque.

Battery 1/2 drive. It's a DeWalt dcf900 with advertised torque of 1000 but 2nd power level will give 600 apparently

Have fun running out of battery torquing down one hub.
