Can Kwik Trip/Kwik Star Become The Next Love's And Compete?

Ok, so on a side note I am all of a sudden getting ads for QT on my face book video feed. What’s up with that? Facebook man… creepy. I have a Facebook account with not one friend on it, I literally only have it to watch videos.

 

The money for truck stops comes from fuel sales, according to Forbes, pilot/ flying j sold 12 BILLION gallons of fuel last year. In contrast TA only manages about 500 million gallons per quarter, or two billion per year of combined diesel sales. This is according to freightwaves.com. These figures are not profit but total sales. I cannot find figures for how much pilot/flying j pays for their fuel but based on the astronomical amount of fuel they chew through, and the fact that they raked in 26 billion dollars last year tells me they are making a pretty nice profit margin. That’s why they build parking lots, keep em rolling in.

 

KWIK STAR AND KWIK TRIP. Different that the QT your thinking of. They have great food choices , fresh fruits and veggies and roasted chicken that’s fantastic. Not over priced and a wide selection of salads and such. Very nice stores. Screw loves

 

One thing I don't like about Kwik Trip is that it's hard to tell the locations that don't cater to trucks from the ones that do until you're there. I never have to worry about going to a Pilot and finding out there's no room for a truck there, but I do with Kwik Trip if all I can see from the interstate is the DOT sign.

 

They place cookies on your computer that track all of your web activity. Not just when you are on facebook, anything you do.

Not on the subject but why do y'all say " with that being said". This is some new catch phrase.. you already said it so you don't have to say it's already said ..anyway good topic.

 

The vast majority of Kwik Trips do not have truck parking.

 

Kwik trip won't become a major player until they learn how to lay out a truck stop.

They've tried a fleet fueling model for 10 years, and now they're building "real truck stops" but parking is limited (15-20 spots usually), it tends to be blind side angle, and to circle back onto the scale you have to drive thru the pov area.

They do have the best hot deli selection and their fuel is much better than pilot. On the other hand their def quality is poopy.
