I would like to support you on this because you are a female and we women need to stick together but I can't.If its your fault for getting stuck and having a wrecker come get you out then you are responsible for the bill.I have got stuck before and I paid for it.It wouldn't be so bad if you wasn't about to quit this company because then they would only take so much a week out till it's paid. Also you can't take upon yourself you take that load to the yard without your dispatcher's approval otherwise you're going to receive a service failure on your DAC.

It all depends on situation, like parking on a gravel load, did the OP have permission from her company to park there? Or did she just take it upon herself to park there? Is it company policy to park at a t/s while on home time? It called driver negligence, not saying this is what the OP did, but company may have rights on recovering lost revenue

    Plain truth.

You may have made a mistake in how you parked.

The company can not, can not, charge you for the tow bill.

People do stupid things at work everyday. It is part of doing business. You expect someone to make a mistake of some kind.

Don't let other people on an internet board lay a guilt trip on you.

Things happen. It is all a learning experience.

The only perfect truck drivers I ever met were sitting at the coffee counter telling tall tales.

Yup. I would expect them to break that payment out over at least four weeks for someone that's been with the company for a while. A new driver and/or flight risk...well...they've gotta do what they've gotta do.

To to answer the OPs original question though...yes...I would expect to pick up the cost of the tow in this situation.

Do you work for DAC or something? I've noticed many of your posts mention the DAC. So I wonder if you work for them or were you burned by a bad DAc?

Either way, not every company uses such crap. My last job went looking for mine, and there's no record of me. That was the only place that mentioned DAC. And it will be the last. If I something happens to my current job, and I interview with a company that requests a DAC report, the interview is over..b I have nothing to hide, but if they can't take my word, screw'em

What kind of place are you parking where rain makes your truck slide to the point you are drastically stuck?

My first response to the employer would be "I did not authorize a payroll deduction". See what their reaction is. If it's not favorable, then take action as mentioned in previous posts.

CORRECT, An employer CANNOT withhold any earnings from said forth employee, UNLESS employee has signed a contractual obligation for damages,tows,etc..

Even then,I don't believe that would hold up in a state hearing or a unemployment hearing

As a business owner,I know this law, And here in Illinois, You Will Pay the price for withholding wages from an employee

I'm pretty sure that this tow would be chalked up as the result of negligence on the part of the OP choosing to park where she did. Who knows though. I'd like to know what else happened over the course of the OPs tenure with that company that they hit her with the tow bill like that. i.e. Did she have to sign a written warning as a result of a previous incident that noted that she'd have to pay for a future bill?
