Mark. Thanks for the response. I am a permanent resident of South Carolina. The school was in Missouri and they gave me a temporary address to get the CDL in Missouri since that is where the company/school is located. So I know once I get the hard copy I'll have to transfer it over to a SC CDL.

Tony. It is issue by the state of Missouri and not Prime. Thanks for the answers and advice fellas.

Mark Kling and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this.

Missouri requires proof of residence to obtain a license, and chances are prime gave you document stating you temporarily reside at their campus inn motel; Missouri should have issued you a temporary paper CDL and will mail you a hard copy in a few weeks - to the campus inn, who will then bring it up to reefer dispatch.. They're probably going to expect you to start training (TNT) and then at some point before your paper CDL expires they'll route you through springfield. You might have to wait a few weeks before you jump ship.

Also, mind sharing who in SC hired you with no experience? Is it a local/regional gig?

Ive already left Prime and did not start the TNT training process. That is exactly what's going to happen I'm just hoping that dispatch upstairs will mail me the CDL to my SC address. I don't think by law they can hold it from me.

Also there are a couple of companies that I've been 'pre hired' by. One is Tidewater Transit and I would work out of the Columbia, SC terminal. The other is ABF which is around the airport area here in Columbia. I do have to get my doubles/triples endorsement and go through their city driving course (mini driving school).

Man, surfgod83....if you land the ABF deal you're set....that's a place you can spend a whole career at.....keeping my fingers crossed....if things don't work-out at either place shoot me a PM...I worked at GSF for over 30 years....they have a DC located in Lexington right off two notch rd....if you don't mind a little work and want a job that can pay into 6 figures , get in touch...might could get you an interview at the very least.

Tony thanks a lot man. I am also keeping my fingers crossed. I have heard nothing but good things about ABF. The teamsters wage scale and benefits are also really attractive. I'll keep you guys updated if you care to know at all.

They will mail your CDL along with a bill for the training. It's just business, what are you worried about? o_O
