As I think about things. We have a rising generation of tec savy kids coming in to the work force and at the same time a massive exodus of workers leaving the work force never to return. With some companies that mistreat drivers beyond imagination. Forced team driving leaving them out for six months at a stretch forcing drivers in to being a flease driver. I am beginning to think that this new generation will turn to social media to publish the atrocities of those scum of the earth companies. And as such media spotlight shines the light of truth. On low wages no compensation for on duty time. The conditions will change. So chime in and give your two cents.
Can social media be the demise of bottom feeder companies?

Currently, there's a down side to that. Companies will look at your social media presence if given half a chance and use it against you. That's why my privacy settings are for "friends only." If I don't know you, you can't see what I'm doing/saying. On the other hand, if everybody starts speaking their mind on social media for everyone to see, eventually the bottom feeders will run out of people to blacklist and have to clean up their act.
Yeah, I know, probably dreaming on that last point...scottied67 Thanks this. -
No one is forced to team drive or lease a truck. New drivers must take personal responsibility and get their face out of the smart phone long enough to do some research. That's my take on it.

We've had the CB radio, Internet, and word of mouth for just a few moons now, and yet, people still end up driving for these companies. I know trucking forums have been around for at least 12 years and change (longer, I'm sure, but I know I've been registered on various ones for that length of time), and yet, people still end up driving for them.
Two things at play here...
1: most prospective drivers aren't going to do a whole lot of research. They may be tech-savvy, but that comes at the cost of them expecting everything they should be researching just dropping into their laps. There's no excuse for anyone to end up at one of these bottom feeders, given that the most powerful research tool ever known to mankind is right at their ####### fingertips, and yet.... well, the BFs are still out there in force, aren't they?
2: They may be bottom feeders, but they know how to play the game. Don't underestimate their ability to play dirty.
I hate to be the doomsayer here, but I just can't share in your optimism on this.Rick Brown, BigTrill, Joetro and 8 others Thank this. -
No one has utilized them because most drivers are older currently average age is around 51 years old, that's why these companies haven't seen anything yet.

Agreed i mean think about this for one moment. A twenty somthing filmed his plane luggage being mistreated by said airlines. His intsrument was damaged. Said air lines said not respocible. He took to social media and with in a week he was on CNN fox msnbc and said airlines bought him a new instruments and refunded his air fare. Imagine one or more tech savvy kids get screwed by CRE and that kid uses all scial media and main stream media. The gates of hell will be unleashed. So yes i think there is a tide of change coming.
NavigatorWife, UKJ and scottied67 Thank this.
