Can sombody update this question about prime???? (original question was in 11/15/2008) I've read a bunch of Prime threads and have spent some time on their website but I can't seem to find out the following:
1. How long must you stay with a trainer if you already have your CDL (just out of a PTDI school)? Not meaning to be rude or short, but please answer in the form of weeks, (frankly, the miles and hours thing seems almost to be a dodge).
2. What is starting pay and what is training pay?
Again folks, I don't mean to sound short, but I've spent some time on their website as well as here, and everything seems to be geared towards those who don't yet have their CDL or those who have some experience.......not much in between.
Thanks for the help..............
Can sombody explain please??

If im noy mistaken it is 40k or 50k miles you have to do. 500 a week or .10 cpm which ever is greater. After a few week i believe it goes up to 600 or .12 cpm. But yes you can call without disclosing any info about you cdl and such. Just asking questions. They cant hold a gun to your head and make you join. That be scary.
silenteagle and Elchery Thank this. -
It's 40k with a trainer, you can't put a time frame on it because there are variables. It is not a dodge, It wil be 2 1/3 to 3 months

ok that sounds better! now i have and idea. than you folk's this site is really helpfull, is like a big,big family on the road.

MINIMUM 40k miles. It's in there, I put it up myself. We can't give you a number of weeks, because THAT's dependent of the freight and how you run it. However, on average, at 5k/week it's 8 weeks. JCW was 10 weeks, due to 2 week long breakdowns (1 radiator, 1 turbo). Simple math, really. Doesn't account for break downs or hometime of either party.
Again, this has been answered MULTIPLE times. Training pay for incoming trainees WITH CDL is $500/week (less deductions such as taxes) for 4 weeks. Then $600/week until upgrade. Starting pay. I'll give reefer, since that's what *I* know. Recently 2cpm pay raise went into effect, making up to 80k miles (training miles count) 35cpm. Then, if you have a lightweight truck, 5cpm bonus. Plus fuel bonus which can be anything from 1 cpm to 4 cpm. That's on you and your truck. I believe at 80k miles you get a 1cpm raise. But that may have changed, too. (As in how much, not that you get one.)Elchery Thanks this. -
tickets and even minor accidents add more training and your not ready until your trainer says you are and even then you may want more training
