Can somebody please help me stay motivated?

Can you drive an rgn, haul a D-6 to the mountains, unload, cut grade by survey markers and cut landings by eye all day from daylight til dark, reload, drive to yard, fuel Cat and truck? If you can do all that there are fifty dollar an hour jobs available.

 

I did the PPP loan legit and got it forgiven. Proceeds came to $17k that mainly went straight to retiring other debt, and a few equipment improvements. I did not apply to any of the other covid money because I either did not qualify, or did not want to deal with the attached strings. I never got into this for empire building, so expanding the fleet was never a motivation.

I think I found @blairandgretchen next film project LOL.

 

Ha Ha I have a pretty good story to tell but it has little to do with trucking. It all includes a lot of stuff from growing up to getting a good sum of money to getting it all stolen from me. With a family of crime and murder and mother in prison for life and brother in prison for 30 years over some of it. And then a come back to being successful from nothing to failing and another comeback almost worth while for a little sub movie. Ha Hs

Maybe one day I will put something together. I had consider writing a book about it awhile back ago. Honestly some crazy stuff has happened in my life. I had gone through more then most do in a life time by the time I had turned 21.

Was struggling to stay in business.

End of Feb broke down and had to get towed 60 miles in WY. Started off March with a 13k repair bill for a new turbo and 1 week in a hotel. 10k of that was a loan.

Just 2 weeks after getting my truck back it broke down again, stalled while driving down the highway in WA. Attempted roadside repair, 60 mile tow, another 2 nights in a hotel. 4k repair bill because a fuel line connection went bad letting the engine suck in air.

1 week after getting the truck back it breaks down again in OK. 60 mile tow to a shop that's open 24 hours so no hotel needed. 2 weeks trying to come up with the 9,600 to pay for an SCR replacement. In the end I was about to abandon my truck and try to walk home to MD but my brother was able to get a small loan and my mother took money out of her retirement for me.

Exactly 1 week after getting my truck back, another break down. Able to drive to a shop so no tow, but spent the past week in a hotel to have an *estimated* 5,400 repair cost. Had my mom pick me up since I was close to home.

Between the tows, hotel stays, and repair costs I've had to spend over $35,000 in **TWO** months for maintenance when I was already struggling. All my other bills (including truck paymemt) are behind, I couldn't afford to renew my insurance either.

I'm done. I'm looking for a new job and when I can eventually get the truck fixed I am selling it and my trailer. Along with much of the equipment and tools I had in the truck.

I worked for an O. O. who had a business of hotshot freight.
They were under the name Hot Freight Express in Greensboro, NC.
They were in business from mid '90's to last year.
Started off with 6 speed, 6 wheel, sleeper, 24' Straight Trucks with Barn Doors.

I called it Hot Fright Express.
MANY Customers were humored.

He had some (multi) Millionaire support People who had no qualms about financing his business regardless of what happened to what truck, where, when, and what was needed.
I worked there 4 times in 20 years because he kept saying "welcome aboard" or "welcome back", until the end of the 4th time where he challenged me to a fisticuff, which I declined.

I recall he stated ONCE where he ONCE made a $5,000.00 profit at years' end, probably in 2013.

Of course he didn't LISTEN to us Drivers telling him about Potential PROBLEMS (like tires) because he was a savant and KNEW EVERYTHING about everything, yet, unlike several other companies, he didn't blame us for mechanical or electrical problems he knew we could not have caused.

I drove EVERY TRUCK like I owned it because, regardless of company, for one reason, I wanted to get back to where I began.
