I love how 90% of people on here are millionaires. Like come on, get real. I’d bet 90% on this forum is struggling now and when freight was good still didn’t save enough.

Unfortunately too many dummies out here for that to be successful.
If it's not the cheap freight haulers it's the way they drive. All too obvious

Man man so many confuse luck with skill. Think they are somehow better than others. Never paid the consequences of having diarrhea of the mouth. Don’t think your ever to good that it won’t happen to you. In this age of hiding behind a keyboard it’s easy to look successful when in reality you’re a complete joke. You never know another man’s complete situation….

This isn’t pointed toward anyone…..but if the shoe by #### fits

@zaroba ...after thinking about it more, if you sell the trailer, that does not equate to failure. If you dont want to lease on anywhere thats cool. If you do want to lease on, thats ok too. Keeping your truck up and running is obviously your first priority, because you need a truck to pull any trailer.

And I know keeping your truck running when stuff keeps breaking down is hard..... You're not totally behind the 8 ball yet, so to speak. You can do this, you can pull yourself up and out of this!

Yea, sell the trailer and just lease on to a company. Even the mega companies are paying close to the current rates, but it'll be less expenses.

Assuming something else doesn't break in 1-2 weeks at the rate things are already going

You still don't get it, do you?

If the rates are good, then the word is out and wishy for lucrative life newcomers rush to buy trucks and trailers and boost capacity at an exponential rate. That's what brings the rates down.
There are too many trucks to too few loads. You want them all to stop taking cheap freight? Ok. Let's say, they do park and stop booking in some bizarre solidarity and wait one week, two weeks or three and then yeah, miracle, the freight rates go up, 4-5 dol per mile...but who gets to hual it first? When they all get back at it, It won't last more then a few days before it falls under 2 dol per mile again.

    Well, @zaroba.

The way it works is that most of us expressed comfort and sympathy of sort, as empathy is in a healthy human nature but the truth is that it is a comfort and sympathy offered by a box fighter to his opponent already lying on the floor, after he was just knocked down and the game for him is over.

What we have now is an attrition time and the more and the sooner players like you are out, the quicker those who manage to stay afloat will see some relief. The next, expected in 2024, gravy train can't take us all.

So, before the count to 10 is over, you either get up and fight or leave the ring already.

    You still don't get it.

Even if there's too many trucks if all those trucks would refuse to haul for cheap then the market wouldn't be driven into the ground.
The market driven by what people are willing to work for.
Let's say all truck drivers stood up in unity and agreed none of us will haul any load out of any market for less than $3 a mile then boom thats the new floor! No more cheap loads because no driver will NEVER ever haul it.
Like a minimum wage per mile, if some floor was set either by law or by all truckers in unity then we'd all be better off.

Before it's asked then what happens when you're in a market with 10 trucks and only one load? Who gets the load then?
Broker/customer can decide then by who has best safety score, provided good service in the past etc.

I know all this talk is fantasy land.
There will always be fuel money haulers out here unfortunately and nothing will ever change.

Only potential I see this ever changing is if these bad rates get worse and longer, bankrupting soo many companies and then when trucks are actually needed again there's not enough of us.
What if there's emergency like many hurricanes in a year or new Madrid fault line earthquake etc people will wonder where's all the truck drivers when we need them? Oh yeah nearly all of them went bust with the cheap rates.
Maybe then people will wake up.

Trucking has been, and always will be, a cyclical industry where money is made and lost in an endless loop mostly controlled by supply and demand.

Those who know this are successful. Those who just think it’s the brokers fault or the government and we need unity will not be. If there’s 10 trucks and 5 loads and the rate minimum is $3 a mile like someone mentioned a post above, congrats you get a 50% bankruptcy rate.
