you think resets and recaps are bad now try under the new law. you have to have 2 periods between i think its like 1 and 5 am... I emailed the FDOT and asked them how this works and gave and example of a driver going off duty 15 minutes after the time and he said that yes that driver would have to take 48 hours off to get the 2 require times covered....

What i want to know is come july 01, is that 34 hour reset required or not. Our office manager says yes, now i need 3x reading glasses to read my new jb hunt manual..... it has the new HOS in it , i just can't read that small of print without new glasses....... If i drive team and we drive 10/10 each we should not run out of hours (70/ 8 day week) so do we still have to take a 34 reset or not..... If we each drive 10 and sleep 10 each, that leaves 4 hours a day to be off duty eating and showering and generally goofing off.....

From what I read, if the new regs actually happen....

Resets are only required as they are now. if you want to recap you can.

You may only use one rest per 7 days (no double resetting in a week)

The reset must include 2 mornings.

My understanding is you will not be able to take more than 1 34 reset in a 168 hour period (the 168 starts from the hour you start your 34 and not the end of it) but drivers will be required to take the 30 minute break within the first 5 hours. I have not heard about being required to take the 34.

I could be totally wrong but from all that I have read and heard this is how I understand it.

i believe that you have to take your 30 min break before you have driven 8 hours. or at the 8 hour mark before you can continue driving again.... I don't wanna even mess with a 34 hour reset. if i drive 10 hours a day i should always have 10 hours to drive tomorrow , they added an hour driving time and two hours sleeper time but did not up your weekly max to 77 hours..... so if you drive 11 hour days your gonna run out of hours on day 7

what i want to know is if that 34 hour reset is required or if you can just keep on if you have your available hours to drive the next day....

They are not required now. A reset is completely optional.

After July you must take a 30-minute off-duty break within the first 8 hours after signing on-duty.

January and February I ran 18,606 miles. What I ran was all legal, do the math on that.
