Not really on your $3k/year. My PM's run about $380. That's full service and all filters everything. I spend a little more and do it all at the same time. The $380 includes 10 gallons of mobile, all filters, full grease, brake adjustment, and tire check plus an inspection of all other critical parts. Works for me sure I can get the same thing at a T/A for $300 but I'll pay the extra $80 at my local shop...I might not make it back to that t/a to kick the techs ### that left the drain plug out of my oil pan an ruined my $30000 motor. Would NOT go over well as I can't even get a 1MM anymore and I guess you can no longer buy a factory reman c16 I'd be completely screwed:biggrin_2553:

I think no maintance on the new trucks went out the door with emissions. Drove a brand new pete in 2011 that had $8300 in repairs in 9 months that warranty didn't cover. Not to mention lost revenue. Company had 9 brand new petes and at anytime at least one was at peterbilt getting repaired. The 2011 didn't go 5000 miles before it was back in the shop for warranty work. By the 50,000 mile mark it had spent 8 days in the shop.

just my opinion but the truck sounds like it has some goods and bads, its spec'd nice, but its likely going to need a in frame in couple years give or take. appearance is getting ragged it isn't cheep to get one re-painted. depending on usable life left on wear items such as breaks and tires belts hoses ect. matinace history ect. I would say somewhere in the 15-20k range. probably realistically looking towards the middle to lower end if you want to sell it in a timely manner. and honestly if it wasn't spec'd how it is i would say 12-15k. older trucks its all about condition on what price it will bring. with recent major work done looking good with fresh paint, clean inside and out all wear items above 75% you might see upper 30's- lower 40's for that truck with how its spec'd.

this is just my opinion based off what iv seen in used trucks and what i would value it at if i were looking to purchase. Im by no means a expert

A new truck with a $2400 month payment equals $28,800 a year PLUS any non warranty work and PM's............that can rebuild an older truck that is paid for or bought for cash...........

Hey anyone that thinks a running pre emissions C-15 with under 1M is worth $12,000.00 please PM me. I have a list of 6 trucks I can buy for $12000, then I can sell you the motor and part out the rest and not need to work for months. If you guys would pay $20,000.00 for a 2000, I will supply all you want with no problem. The MOST that tractor is worth is $12000. Check the trucks listed for sale, no one is spending big for old tractors.

I guess if someone only looks one place, they will never find the best deal. I guess only taking loads from one broker and never looking around is the smartest way to go.

Let's not forget, guys....location is pretty important when pricing out a used truck. I'm in NY, and out here pre-emissions stuff goes for quite a bit more than perhaps it would go for in CA (where the original poster is located, IIRC). A truck that could sell for $15K in CA could very well be worth another $10K on the east coast. This is especially true locally to me, where a big Cat and an 18 make it a very desirable bulk haul rig (sand can, end dump, etc, even turnpike doubles).
