These other post up to this one is good stuff, This forum is packed full of a Cream of The Crop Professional Truck Drivers, These guys are day in day out! Running, there are O/O's in here that can make a Sewing Machine print Money they are that good at their business, Follow some of them ask them business questions, read and then read some more, But most importantly enjoy what you have now, and that is Time to figure out what you want to do for a while in life, Like one post said your decisions may change and that is OK but whatever you do keep your Criminal and Driving records clean, Go ahead and get your noodle dirty, it will wash off but don't do anything that you will regret later in life, When you start to be able to work, go to the shops and places where you can learn from the hands that are there what to do and how to do it, there is no one we as Truck Drivers want to talk to then a young gun coming up behind us that will take the reins where we drop them then a guy who has learned from the best of them and can do what we do 10-15 years younger or earlier then when we finally met that mark, Just fill your mind up with knowledge, And make it about everything not just a single thing but put all you can in that mind of yours, There is a Song that says "there are no Luggage Rack on a hurse" And that is true the only things you will take with you when we all leave this world is the things we packed inside our brains, so pack yours early and often and keep on it. you ill do fine in this industry, It is hard work but it is so rewarding knowing that a kid some place close to where you delivers those Gummy bears is going to be enjoying a treat you brought to where it could be gotten so he can have a Gummy Bear! Good Luck Young Gun! go For it!

It sounds to me like you already have some of the tools you need to be a successful. Willingness, common sense, a definite goal in mind, just to mention a few. I have to agree with Witchinghour about the agriculture scene. Around here there are alot of first time young'uns getting experience as drivers. My advice to you would be to surround yourself with people in the industry who are already successful. And when you do get behind the wheel your greatest tool is something called situational awareness. Best of luck lil trucker!

As roadover say you have willingness which is incredibly important in life. What I said previously (don't drink and drive NO MATTER WHAT), what others said (don't stain your DMV or penal record) etc. is important no matter what you will end up doing later on in your life.
It is already difficult to find a decent job with a Masters Degree, experience and a clean record. There's no need to make life more difficult than what it is. Whatever you do (or don't) will haunt you back.
