Depends on if it can be done safely without impeding traffic or not.
I don't know how being paid by the mile, the hour or any other way factors into it.
Sometimes you come to a red, you're in a right turn lane, there's a bunch of cars behind you waiting to turn right also and there's not a single vehicle visible on the road you're turning onto. So you're going to just sit there and wait for a green because you're 'paid by the hour'?
can tractor trailers make a right turn on red?

Yes. I'm paid by the mile and even under those conditions I will wait. I'm legal. Nothing else matters at that time.
...I also see it this way. There's a reason that intersection is marked like that usually. Be it that oncoming traffic is blind from a hill or curve or you're unable to see any hazards.
Theres a road nearby my house. The speed limit is 35. Everyone goes 50, and I feel the set limit is too slow. But I still do the speed limit. -
What is an Alaskan hello, exactly? -
i always wondered as well but today saw a flatbedder make a right on red when it clearly posted no right on red and he even didnt stop lol
-
Marked like? I'm talking about when it's legal and safe to so.
-
You may know it better as flipping the bird, shooting a bird, or being given the middle finger.
I had hoped to find at least the joke that Alaskan Hello came from but it wasn't that great a joke anyways.
Okay. Some intersections are marked as, "no right on red." So that's why I say that. If the intersection isn't marked as, "no right on red" then it's perfectly legal to make a right on red.
Sorry, my wording may have been off, I'm posting between bouts of sleep since I'm in a noisy area. But I did cover that in my first post on the topic.

I vaguely remember being told in school that it's illegal to pull a right on red with a cdl permit, but legal once you get your full cdl.
This could be %100 wrong though. -
#### right! Is that a problem? Should have gotten in front of me!
Vilhiem Thanks this. -
The traffic laws are the same whether you have a permit or a CDL. The only thing a permit holder can't do is drive without a CDL holder in the jump seat.
