Is doubles/triples, hazmat and tank needed for every p&d delivery job? I would like to drive a single axle and a pup delivering stuff but don't necessarily want to pay for the extra endorsements... do you have a helper with you most of the time or are you alone?
Can you be a p&d delivery driver with only a cdl and air brake endorsement?

No doubles needed for New Penn.Texas_hwy_287 and road_runner Thank this.

You will need doubles/triples, hazmat and tank for ABF. You will pick up and deliver alone.

Not sure how much CDL with endorsements cost elsewhere, but it costs me 100 bucks every 4 years for haz, tanker, double triples, Class A renewal, and fingerprints. Cheap if you ask me.

Can't beat $25 a year to not be an OTR door swinger who sits at grocery depots for hours unpaid and doesn't get paid to sit out a 34 1,200 miles away from home.Mike2633, Gearjammin' Penguin, Crude Truckin' and 2 others Thank this.

One would imagine that would be a great value to most people!Mike2633, Crude Truckin' and McUzi Thank this.

Probably not. But it's so easy and cheap to get them. I noticed in the XPO ads that they give you 90 days to obtain them.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I think RL does that too now.HiramKingWilliams Thanks this.

Dude. Get your class A with ALL of your endorsements. Don’t sell yourself short. Your overthinking way too much. Maybe you shouldn’t get into this line of work.
Mike2633, road_runner, Texas_hwy_287 and 4 others Thank this. -
Most P&D guys need to be able to drive anything, you're not going to choose how many axles are on your truck or whether you get a pup or not. Typically the line haul guys are the ones pulling the doubles but in many cases P&D guys will pull them to say an Amazon DC or something and dump them. You're not going to have a helper unless you're training somebody. You're definitely going to need HAZMAT and Tank, You never know when the load will require a placard and neither does your terminal until it comes in, tank endorsements aren't just for tankers, large totes and some containers over certain gallon limits require them. Endorsements are typically a couple bucks each, the HAZMAT background check is like $85 but that's only every couple years. Really not a big deal.HiramKingWilliams Thanks this.
