In all my decades I've never stopped in the road for a gator.
mustang190, Magoo1968, bzinger and 2 others Thank this. -
I'm sure the 0.0001 MPG gain that low bumper added will pay for the $1200 repair bill in no time.
Magoo1968, singlescrewshaker, tscottme and 5 others Thank this. -
In this case -- it's not the driver that's bad.
It's really the truck -- for having a fiberglass bumper.
Seriously....people....how ####### lame is that?
That's just a problem waiting to happen, anyway....

I know my dash cam will illuminate things in the dark that i can not see because it is out of the beams of the headlights. It also sees panoramic views were the human eye cannot. That camera could probably see the black gator long before he could in the headlights and that could be within 20’ of the truck sometimes. We all know most of the headlights on newer vehicles are horrible for seeing things down low to the ground while driving.
Also something else to consider is the cam is forward on the windshield in the crows nest position. The driver is back down behind and below it in a seat. A completely different location visually. Unless you drive standing up with your face against the windshield the driver has a much different view ahead.Last edited: Aug 29, 2023

No one is going to be a good driver according to company safety standards (24/7).

Getting back to the original question, and not the tire so much, it's the same old thing across the board, you do a thousand good miles, and are remembered for the one bad mile,,figuratively speaking. There was a time when a drivers word was pretty safe, trucks had metal bumpers, and cameras were for family picnics. Well, today, there is so much driver BS, ( hiring felons for heavens sake) metal bumpers did more harm than good, and cameras are everywhere. I was considered by most a good driver,( can't argue with over 3 million safe miles) but I did what some may consider bad things we won't get into here. Had I got busted for those things, that would make me a bad driver. It's one reason I left the profession, it wasn't the same job. Back then, a "bad" driver was one that got the job done regardless of how. Today a bad driver is just that, and shouldn't be in a truck. Luckily, on a recent cc car trip, I saw very few bad drivers, fact is, in 3,000 miles, I didn't see one incident. I think we still have good truck drivers.
Albertaflatbed and Bonita Nut Thank this.
