I think they are great drivers who get ran away for mistakes.201 Thanks this. -
The Company did it to show they took appropriate action against the Driver. In other words they threw him under the Bus. Shows DOT that they’re self policing themselves should they get audited. Unfortunately that’s how the system works. When I worked for a mega, they were always getting Drivers for Log Book violations. I got very few, compared to others. Always minor things. Sometimes even get a 2 day suspension. I ran an 5 day dedicated route. Suspension was always conveniently on the weekend.

I don't have any robots working for me but if I did I can kind of imagine the scenario.
I've never heard of a robot calling the office at three in the morning because he just blew all his money on the tables in Vegas and he needs an advance to get home.
I've never had a robot ask for a day off to go to his ex mother in law's funeral.
I've never had a robot steal tires, or oil, or tire chains, or anything at all.
Robots never cop an attitude because they don't like the haul they're on.
I've never had a robot who looked for every excuse he could find to get off early on Fridays.
I've never seen a robot have a temper tantrum because another robot got a raise and he didn't.
I've never seen a robot who chewed snoose and spit on the truck floorboards.
I've never seen a robot who didn't know how to adjust brakes, or change a light, or tie something down to where it probably won't fall off.
I've never seen a robot who pissed off the scale cops so bad that they called me about it.
I know, I know...all this is just a fantasy about what it might be like in the future and it doesn't count yet. It sure solves the good driver-bad driver problem though. I won't be around to see it but some of you will. Good luck.Hammer166, Albertaflatbed, Magoo1968 and 4 others Thank this. -

If he had stopped and I was the “safety guy” he would have gotten chewed out if not let go.
The attitude of that safety person is what causes more problems than what it prevents.
Imagine him being a new driver and swerving for anything and everything that may cause the slightest damage to his truck..all because he’s afraid of a safety manager who doesn’t know squat.
When I hit a cow years ago I showed the video to my boss..He was agitated with me and asked why I couldn’t stop. I looked at him and asked why he didn’t stop for the 4 deer he hit a low bridge he destroyed a truck on.. That was the end of that discussion never to hear another word about it.
Every driver at the company watched the video and said that I handled the situation perfectly. Even the trooper on scene said he sees this happen all the time but the trucks are usually in the ditch.
In short, just because “safety moron” says you’re a bad driver, it doesn’t make it so. -
if this ever comes up at a new job interview you just pull out your phone and show them the video , debris in the road , no where to go to avoid it .
Many years ago when I worked for a company they considered any contact with anything , preventable .
I got a deer and got tagged with a preventable . -
